Dear Parents, 13/11/2011

Parent-Teacher Meetings
Parents Teacher meetings will be held on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th of October. Each parent will be given a time to attend and are asked to return a confirmation slip to the class teacher. If the allocated time does not suit, please contact the class teacher to re-arrange a more suitable time. The pupils from 1st to 6th classes will be dismissed at 2.30pm on both of these days (10 minutes earlier than usual).
Parents Association A.G.M.:
The Parents Association will hold its A.G.M. next Tuesday night, October 18th at 8.30pm. They ask that, if possible, one representative from each family please attend this meeting. This will be held in the school.
Parents Association Halloween fundraiser:
The Parents Association are holding a sponsored fancy dress disco on Thursday 27th October, from 7pm to 8.30pm. It will take place in Camolin Parish Hall. Pupils are asked to get sponsorship for taking part and each child will receive a sponsorship card. Cards and money may be returned to the school, (before or after the mid-term break), or brought along on the evening of the event. Parents of infant pupils are required to stay with their children in the hall.
New Board of Management:
The term of the current Board of Management will run out at the end of November 2011 and a new process of appointments to the board will take place over the next 6-8 weeks. As in the past, there will be two parent nominees on the Board (one mother and one father). The first part of the process to elect the parent nominees will be to circulate a list of all the parents of children in the school to each household. The parents will then be asked to nominate candidates for election to the Board. Before such a list is circulated, under the requirements of the Data Protection Act, 1988, the school must receive permission from each parent for the circulation of such personal information. Therefore each parent will be asked to sign and return a permission slip to the school if they agree to their names being entered on this list. We will send these slips home early next week.
Operation Christmas Child
We will be taking part in the Christmas shoebox appeal again this year. Children are asked to donate small presents for children in third world countries. Details of what can be put into the boxes are on the leaflets that each child will receive. The shoeboxes can be returned to the school after the mid-term break.
Lenrec
Lenrec 'Clothes Recyclers' are collecting our clothes bags again this year. So if you have any unwanted items such as clothing, household textiles, shoes, handbags, belts soft toys etc. The next collection will be on Thursday 20th October. Please leave them at the school on Thursday morning at 9am and they will be collected by Lenrec. They will also collect unwanted mobile phones. For each bag collected the school will receive €5.00.
Parking in front of side gate & Road Safety:
Another reminder to parents to please not block the entrance gate to the staff car park in the mornings.
Also all pupils must use the correct gate when entering the school, not the gate for the car park, for safety reasons.

There are still some outstanding amounts for Book Rental. Please ensure that you pay for this, it is €50 for the full year. This covers all your child's needs including copies and photocopying. If you have any difficulty paying for book rental you can contact me in the strictest confidence.
School Opening times
Children should arrive at school between 8.50am - 9.00am. Children are not to arrive earlier than this. This leaves them plenty of time to walk to their line and get ready for the day ahead.

Well done to all who took part in the quiz. Unfortunately our school will not be progressing this year into the next stages, but we gave it our best shot. Congratulations to everyone.
